The Philadelphia Museum of Art is proud to join with some of the area's most distinguished musicians for a series of concerts and performances inspired by the Museum's collections and current exhibitions. Come and experience the wonderful connection between the visual and performing arts.

All concerts and performances held in Van Pelt Auditorium unless noted. Programs are not recommended for children under 7 years of age. Programs and artists are subject to change. Seating is unreserved. Concert and performance ticket prices do not include Museum admission..

You may purchase tickets by phone or in person at the Museum's Visitor Services desks. To register by phone, call (215) 235-SHOW (7469). A nonrefundable service charge for each space reserved is added to all phone orders (Members $2.50, Nonmembers $3.00). There is no service charge for reservations made in the Museum.

      One of America’s leading guitarists, Jason Vieaux is changing the face of guitar programming. His reputation for making “the single guitar seem like a body of instruments at work…an orchestra of sound” has earned him a devoted international fan base. (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

In 1924 Leopold Stokowski rightly predicted that The Curtis Institute of Music, where exceptionally gifted young musicians study for careers as performing artists, would "become the most important musical institution of our country, perhaps of the world." The Philadelphia Museum of Art is pleased to continue its association with these accomplished musicians. Duos and chamber ensembles present informal concerts in designated Museum galleries one Saturday each month.

Members of the acclaimed Philadelphia Orchestra join with the Museum to explore the intrinsic link between the visual arts and music. Each of the three concerts includes commentary by the musicians and may be related to either the collections or a special exhibition.

  • Wister Quartet with Marcantonio Barone
    • Sunday, January 24, 2010, Starts at 2:30 p.m.
      Philadelphia-based Wister Quartet, featuring Philadelphia Orchestra Assistant Concertmaster Nancy Bean and Second Violin Davyd Booth, presents a program of works by Barber, Dohnányi, and a world premiere by the quartet’s own Lloyd Smith.
