Do you like to draw? All family member are welcome to try their drawing skills in the Museum galleries. An artist is on hand to provide materials and encouragement. Drop in anytime between noon and 3:00 p.m. to sketch, doodle, or create a masterpiece.

Perelman Building Architectural Tour
Tours gather in the Perelman Lobby
Please note that tours are weather dependant and will not take place in excessive heat or rain. Moderate walking is involved.
Resplendent with multicolored and gilded ornaments, and animated with sculptures carved in limestone and cast in terracotta and metal, the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building is the most richly embellished example of Art Deco architecture to be erected in Philadelphia in the 1920s. Come discover it all in this fascinating tour!

Rose Susan Hirschhorn Behrend Lecture: Explosion in a Shingle Factory: the Armory Show and Modernism in America
Location: Van Pelt Auditorium

With Carol Troyen, Kristin and Roger Servison Curator Emerita of American Paintings, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
A showcase for recent American art as well as a survey of European painting, the Armory Show was met with both derision and enthusiasm. It revolutionized modernism in the United States--this lecture will describe how that happened.

Cultures of Play: Learning from Children
Location: Perelman Media Room and Café
Free event; includes Perelman Admission
Join Collab and PennDesign's Orkan Telhan for an illustrated lecture on how children play. Trained at the MIT Media Laboratory, Telhan will discuss his research with the LEGO Learning Institute and other forums exploring the educational and social components that motivate kids to be creative alone and with each other. The Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, Emerging Design Practices at the University of Pennsylvania, Telhan is an interdisciplinary artist, designer and researcher.
