October 6, 2012
Saturday, October 13
Van Pelt Auditorium, ground floor

Free for Members; Member guest $8

Join film lecturer Michael McGonigle for "To the Ends of the Earth: The Adventure Film Genre." This talk is followed by a screening of Deep Water.

In 1969, the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race was run to see who could be the first person to sail around the world solo. While many experienced yachtsmen vied for the cup, it was the least likely entrant, Donald Crowhurst, a man with little sea going experience who surprised everyone with his success. But there is much more to this story than meets the eye and this film is both mesmerizing and deeply haunting. (2006, 92 minutes).
