Philadelphia Museum of Art - Calendar & Events : Family & Children : Children's Art Classes

Masterpieces in the Museum inspire children to create their own works of art in creative studio programs. Museum teachers guide the young artists through fun and informative experiences in the galleries followed by hands-on projects in the studios. Children in weekday and Saturday preschool classes should be accompanied by an adult. No prior experience is necessary and all materials are supplied. Class size is limited. Preregistration is required and fees are nonrefundable unless the Museum cancels the class.

Registration for Fall Children's Art Classes

Beginning August 1st at 10:00 a.m., you may register your child by phone or in person at the Museum’s Visitor Services Desks. To register by phone, call (215) 235-SHOW (7469). A nonrefundable service charge for each space reserved is added to all phone orders (member $2.50, nonmembers $3.00). There is no service charge for reservations made in the Museum.

Complete the school week in an artistic way! These challenging and fun studio experiences complement concepts introduced in the Museum galleries. Please enroll your child in the appropriate class according to age.

Ages 5–6
Children explore the galleries with a Museum teacher and use a variety of materials to create prints, paintings, and sculptures. Parents do not participate in this class.

Ages 7–8
Students imagine life in another country or period of history during treks through the Museum's galleries. After exploring the collection, they create their own artistic treasures using fun studio techniques.
