The Circumcision of Christ

This panel was originally part of a predella, the horizontal plank of wood that supports the main part of an altarpiece. Originally the predella consisted of several scenes painted on a single piece of wood. At some later date, when the altarpiece was disassembled, the predella scenes were cut apart.
