gallery 262 [x] jesus [x] jesus christ [x] portrait [x] rembrandt [x]This face of Christ relates very closely to depictions found in two prints by Rembrandt that portray Christ preaching to an attentive audience. A 1656 inventory lists a picture hanging in Rembrandt's studio as "a head of Christ, done from life," perhaps evidence that Rembrandt used his neighbors in the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam as models. This painting is likely the one that was kept by Rembrandt's family.
