Johnson Collection, Philadelphia Museum of Art), originally formed the folding wings of an altarpiece. They would have flanked a central religious scene, such as a Crucifixion. The kneeling donor figures were only recently identified. Arnold von Siegen II was a lay official of the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Cologne. His son, also shown here, went on to become mayor of Cologne at the end of the sixteenth century.
