The April showing of Schiaparelli’s midseason collection for fall 1953 included formal evening wraps of “angel hair”—long, glistening rayon threads knotted into a loosely scattered fringe that moved as one walked. For this white coat, worn over a pink organdy dress, the threads are shaded from white to pink. Dilys E. Blum, from Shocking! The Art and Fashion of Elsa Schiaparelli (2003), p. 285.
