This shawl fragment shows an early design of the boteh - a teardrop shape with an overhanging pendant tip. Made in the late eighteenth century, this shawl shows a tall boteh surrounded by flowering branches. The sawtooth effect created by the blue buds outlining each boteh is a design feature that continued for almost a century.
