Cameo Vase

1911
Designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848–1933) Made by Tiffany Studios, Corona, New York (1902–1938)
Tiffany achieves the appearance of traditional cameo objects in this blown glass vase. The cameo glass technique normally encases a base form in layers of color that can be cut away to create designs. Here, the vessel’s iridescent surface has been carved and then embellished with incised and colored appliqués.
