Mountain Lion

c. 1935-1938
Edgar Alexander McKillop (American (active Balfour, North Carolina), 1879–1950)
From the late 1920s until about 1938, Edgar Alexander McKillop produced a dramatic menagerie of animal, human, and imaginary creatures. Working almost exclusively in the local black walnut of rural western North Carolina, he explored the expressive, rough-hewn qualities of wood while engaging his own brand of imaginative, direct humor.
