From his graduation collection of 1993 until his death in early 2010, Alexander McQueen simultaneously garnered worldwide acclaim and broke fashion taboos with savage themes such as "Jack the Ripper" and "Highland Rape." The simple cut of this McQueen shirt is subtly subversive. The long sleeves cut without a shoulder seam feature striking black gussets under the arm, while the use of an early Victorian photograph of a line of nude women is typical of McQueen's historically based statements.
