Man's Jumpsuit with Snap-on Partial Belt

c. 1987-1990
L'homme bis, Paris, France
One-piece jumpsuits—adopted for utilitarian reasons by workers and pilots in the early twentieth century—achieved high-fashion status in the space age. The jumpsuit's streamlined style is incredibly adaptable, making it the perfect universal unisex garment. This example in a powerfully colored knit has an oversize eighties cut fitted by waist tucks and a snap-on belt. It was produced by the masculine version of the French label Dorothée Bis, known for sportswear that featured total looks rather than American-style mix-and-match separates.
