Model of Woman's Dress: Bodice and Skirt

c. 1905
Artist/maker unknown, French? Probably made for Gimbel Bros
Although this dress is small, it was not made for a child, but rather as a scale model of an extremely fashionable woman’s dress of the period. Probably made in France and used at Gimbel Brothers department store in Philadelphia, this miniature creation showed customers the shape, style, and exquisite detailing of a luxurious day dress they could order in full size.
