Basin with Upper Ferry Bridge over the Schuylkill River

Made by the Firm of Joseph Stubbs, Burslem, Staffordshire, England (1822–1835) Decoration after Thomas Birch (American (born England), 1779–1851)
Designed by architect Robert Mills, the Upper Ferry Bridge opened in 1813 and was said to have a span of ninety-eight feet, greater than any similar structure. The bridge, located at what is now Spring Garden Street, burned in 1838.
