Decanter

c. 1770
Painted decoration attributed to a member of the Beilby family, Newcastle, England (active c. 1761–c. 1778)
It was the fashion in eighteenth-century England to label decanters with their intended contents, either by hanging an engraved silver plate from a chain around the neck or by engraving or painting the label on the decanter itself. "Port" appears on this decanter.
