Allegorical Portrait of Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France (1755 - 1793)

1774
Noël Le Mire (French, 1724–1801) After a drawing by Jean Michel Moreau le Jeune (French, 1741–1814)
Noël Le Mire's print of a portrait of Marie-Antoinette is a companion to a print depicting Louis XVI. Both works are surrounded by allegorical figures and were issued in 1774, the year that the royal couple assumed power as king and queen of France upon the death of Louis XV. Decades later, the print of Louis XVI was reissued with the king's image replaced by a portrait of Napoleon.
