Relics of the Renaissance curiosity cabinet and of the earliest experiments with optical devices, sets of printed anamorphic transformation cards began to be produced during the nineteenth-century for home diversion. Box sets were sold with reflective cylinders called anamorphic scopes into which the viewer must look to properly see the image that appears distorted on each sheet.
