Shōmura Ken (Japanese, born 1949)

Shōmura’s experiments with color and pattern are inspired by Japanese fiber art. The color of this vase refers to an indigo blue dye used in textiles (called aizome). The prominent relief design on the surface recalls a netted fabric.
