Napa Weeds

2006
Evangeline Montgomery (American, born 1930) Published by Brandywine Workshop, Philadelphia
Curator and multimedia artist Evangeline J. Montgomery is noted for her metalwork, particularly for her sculptural “ancestral” boxes that often incorporate materials such as semiprecious stones and found objects. Her interest in layering textures and forms, calligraphic markings, and combining transparent and translucent surfaces in her boxes carries over to her paintings and prints, as seen in this example, based on a memory of a visit to a California vineyard.
