Nabeshima-style wares are highly refined and feature underglaze blue and overglaze enamel decoration in applied colors such as red, yellow, and bluish-green. The backs of dishes also have underglaze blue decoration, usually depicting jewels bound with ribbons, peonies, and similar motifs.
