Fukagawa Eizaemon VIII (Japanese, 1833–1889)
In anticipation of the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition of 1876, the Japanese government commissioned artists to create designs for ceramics. The drawing of a dragon by Nōtomi Keisuke may have served as a model for the one on this dish.
