The form of this dresser continues a late-medieval type. However, the carved decoration juxtaposes two styles: an older taste with linenfold panels (seen on the bottom) and variously decorated columns topped by fanciful but not yet classicized beasts; and a newer, Italianate taste with heads and ornamental panels in the ancient Roman style.
