Market

1930
José Diego María Rivera (Mexican, 1886–1957) Published by Weyhe Gallery, New York
One of Rivera's first lithographs of 1930 was this lively market scene drawn in the broad outline style that he used when making book illustrations. This design was published the next year in Carleton Beals's Mexican Maze, one of a number of books published in the United States during this period that contributed to Mexico's growing popularity as a destination for North American tourists.
