LabelThis 1932 composition of disks and globes suspended in a red frame represents a format more geometric than Calder’s kinetic mobiles, which he introduced in a Paris exhibition earlier the same year. Calder made Construction after returning from a trip to Barcelona, where he may have seen examples of flat wall reliefs by his friend Joan Miró, the Spanish Surrealist.
