The Green Box, published in 1934 in an edition of 300, presents the notations and diagrams Duchamp made between 1912 and 1917 in preparation for his masterwork The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even (The Large Glass). Duchamp compared the collection of ninety-four meticulous facsimiles housed in a green cardboard box to a “Sears Roebuck” catalogue that would provide an indispensable guide to understanding The Large Glass.
