Bowl with Peonies

19th century
Artist/maker unknown, Korean
Blue-and-white wares were mainly used in the Korean court and in upper class households during ancestral rites, but they were also considered utilitarian objects for the kitchen and table. Those pieces destined for the royal household, such as this bowl, have underglaze blue decoration executed by professional court painters.
