Schiaparelli owned this version of her spectacular ensemble for spring 1947, presented in November 1946. The sumptuous jet embroidery over the pink taffeta on the front of the jacket and ending in a bow at the back forms three-dimensional flowers on curling stems. Schiaparelli wore the dinner suit during a trip to New York, and it was subsequently described by Vogue on February 15, 1947, as “a sort of summary of her designing tradition” because it was a dinner suit combining black with her signature Shocking pink and was bustled.
