Degravitation

1937
Rockwell Kent (American, 1882–1971) Printed by George C. Miller (American, 1894–1965)
In 1937, Life magazine commissioned Kent to produce this group of lithographs to accompany an article on the Hayden Planetarium, which was opened behind the American Museum of Natural History in New York in 1935. His imaginative designs, which he called the End of the World series, illustrate four frightening scientific theories about potential celestial disturbances and their cataclysmic effects on earth.
