Purchased for the Cadwalader Collection with funds contributed by the Mabel Pew Myrin Trust and the gift of an anonymous donor, 1983LabelLambert was John Cadwalader's brother and business partner and, like him, participated in the Revolutionary War. After leaving the army, he represented New Jersey in the Continental Congress and the U. S. Congress. Peale created this depiction of Lambert, and that of his sister Martha, in a manner ambitiously stylish.
