The address is that which the graphic artist Hermann-René-Georges Paul (1864-1940) had after 1897 (when he was still at 66 rue de Provence) and before 1905 (when he was at 73 rue des Vignes).

The copy on this page and the one barely begun on the recto are the latest and most eccentric of the five that Cézanne drew after the Atlases flanking Pierre Puget's monumental portal for the Hôtel de Ville at Toulon. Those of the Atlases at the right (Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1987-53-13a; Chappuis, Adrien. The Drawings of Paul Cézanne. 2 vols. Greenwich, Conn., 1973, no. 391) were evidently made in the Louvre before the plaster casts from which Cézanne worked were transferred to the Musée de Sculpture Comparée in 1886; and those of the Atlas at the left (these two; Chappuis, Adrien. The Drawings of Paul Cézanne. 2 vols. Greenwich, Conn., 1973, no. 1132) after the transfer. What is unusual about the copies on both sides of this page is the viewpoint Cézanne has chosen: standing almost directly below and far to one side--an angle of vision much more possible at the Trocadéro than at the Louvre--he sees the figure's head and torso so extremely foreshortened as to be almost unrecognizable as such.
