High-Back Side Chair

Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh (Scottish, 1868–1928) Probably made by Herbert Smith and Son, Glasgow, Scotland
Designed for the Luncheon Room of the Argyle Street Tea Rooms in Glasgow, this high-back chair was the first in a series by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The high back functioned to divide and define the Luncheon Room space.
