"Easy Edges" Side Chair

Designed 1972
Designed by Frank O. Gehry (American (born Canada), 1929) Made in 1972 by Jack Brogan Made from 1982 by Chiru Enterprises, Inc., Los Angeles
The furniture in Gehry's "Easy Edges" line is made from layers of single-ply cardboard stacked together and glued with the corrugations running at right angles, the same method used in the manufacture of plywood. An advertisement for the line touted that the resulting material was so strong that several of the chairs together could support a Volkswagen. The furniture won high points in the environmentally conscious 1970s for its use of cardboard, a recycled material.
