Lounge Chair

Designed 1958
Designed by Charles Eames (American, 1907–1978) , and Ray Eames (American, 1912–1988) Made from 1958 to present by the Herman Miller Furniture Company, Zeeland, Michigan (1923–present)
The idea for this chair, part of an "indoor-outdoor" line, grew out of conversations between Eames and the architect Alexander Girard about the lack of high-quality outdoor furniture available on the market. The first chairs in the group were produced for a private house Girard and Eero Saarinen were designing in Columbus, Indiana.
