LabelFor her bridal party, Grace Kelly selected a design by Joseph Hong, a young designer from California who had worked for Neiman-Marcus for only a few months. Hong saw the royal wedding as a modern-day fairy tale and envisioned simple yet romantic dresses with a modern twist. The bride's favorite color, yellow, was chosen for the bridesmaids' dresses; the shade, called "Sunlight," provided a pleasing contrast to the grayness of Monaco's cathedral. Made of sheer silk organdy over a built-in strapless taffeta underdress, the dress features a high neck, pleated sash, full bishop sleeves, and a wide, petticoat-supported skirt that flows gracefully into a short train. |
