Face of Our Old Time Earth Moon

1950s
Peter Attie Besharo (American (born Syria), 1898–1960)
A Lebanese immigrant who settled in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, around 1912, Peter Charlie Besharo sold dry goods and men's clothing and worked also as a sign and house painter. A self-taught artist, he produced seventy-odd paintings-executed in brilliant, bold colors-that were discovered in his garage/studio after his death in 1960. Motifs such as rockets, suns, eyes, and spacemen combine with Roman Catholic imagery in his pictures, which are remarkable visionary scenes that often depict travel in space.
