American Presidential China
April 1, 1977 - May 29, 1977
Visitors to the American Collections could see the exhibition American Presidential China, organized and circulated by the Smithsonian
Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, on view until May 29. The 115 ceramic objects used by the nation's First Families from George and
Martha Washington to Gerald and Betty Ford reflected the personal style of each President as well as changing tastes in ceramic arts. A lecture
on Presidential China was given on April 26 by Susan Gray Detweiler, author of the handsome catalogue accompanying the exhibition.
