Delacroix: Studio Practice
August 15, 1992 - November 8, 1992
Eugéne Delacroix (1798-1863) was the leader of the Romantic Movement in French painting. His innovations in subject matter and richness
as a colorist will be explored in seven oil paintings from the Museum's collection, supplemented by several works on paper, excerpts from the
artist's own writings and the methods of the restorer. Works will range from an early painting generously lent by the Salander O'Reilly
Gallery, New York, to the artist's own reflection on his early North African pictures dated one year before he died.
