This installation features recent additions to the Museum's collection of modern and contemporary design, and includes a range of objects, from posters and wallpaper to kitchen utensils, furniture, and lighting.
Among the highlights are three large-scale advertising posters designed in 1958 for The Philadelphia Inquirer by German graphic artist Michael Engelmann; a portable, compact Mini-kitchen (1963), with built-in range and refrigerator, by Italian designer Joe Colombo; a bronze chair (c. 1973) and floor lamps (c. 1933) designed by sculptor Diego Giacometti; and the "Knotted" chair, made of high tech fibers soaked in epoxy resin for strength and rigidity, designed in 1996 by Marcel Wanders for Droog Design, Amsterdam.
