This wonderful publication accompanies the exhibition Mountain Dreams: Contemporary Ceramics by Yoon Kwang-cho. The book and the exhibition highlight the innovative work of ceramic artist Yoon Kwang-cho (b. 1946), acknowledged as one of the master potters of his generation in his native Korea. The catalogue’s introductory essay, by Felice Fischer, the Luther W. Brady Curator of Japanese Art and Curator of East Asian Art, gives readers a concise exploration of Yoon’s work, based on the traditional Korean pottery known as punch’ong (or buncheong), which is characterized by its freedom of design, unusual shapes and coarse potting.
