"In arranging my new apartment I see your paintings again with so much pleasure.... There's such a note of truth, of real countryside in each one."
Letter to van Gogh from his brother Theo, Paris, March 16, 1889
"I've looked most attentively at your works since we parted; first at your brother's and then at the Independents exhibition. I offer you my sincere compliments, and for many artists you are the most remarkable in the exhibition. With things from nature you are the only one there who thinks."
Letter to van Gogh from artist Paul Gauguin, Paris, March 20, 1890

one of the most beautiful exhibitions I have ever seen or experienced. Audio was wonderful and I especially appreciated the passion and love for Van Gogh and his shown by the curators.

it was beautiful, very sad, that he painted so many paintings in such a short period and was gone.

I'm a Fine Arts Major at UPenn and I was questioning my decision to be an artist. This exhibit completely reaffirmed me.

For such a troubled mind contained with so many thoughts Van Gogh was able to create beautiful masterpieces! Quiet an enjoyable exhibit!

The colors were spectacular and to see the brush strokes up close was just wonderful. We saw many paintings that we never saw before. We really enjoyed the show and were glad for the opportunity. So many lovely paintings that we could not really pick a favorite.
