Supporting Exhibitions

While the collections are the essence of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's identity, it is the special exhibitions that bring a unique and often timely perspective of a particular subject to the Museum.

Each year the Philadelphia Museum of Art presents more than 25 exhibitions, paying careful attention to balancing major retrospective or thematic presentations with smaller, more intimate and contemplative ones. The organization of these exhibitions can take years, and often requires the cooperation of many museums and private collectors along with considerable scholarship.

Contributions in support of exhibitions provide much needed funds for these ambitious and innovative undertakings, including the research, gallery design and educational materials that accompany each presentation.
