This annual black-tie event tops the lists of young Philadelphians. Held in the Museum’s Great Stair Hall, the best and brightest in the Philadelphia region mix and mingle while enjoying an evening of world-class art, custom cocktails, and dancing. All proceeds go towards the Young Friends' mission of support for art acquisitions, education, conservation, and special projects within the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Saturday, March 2, 2013 – A Great and Mighty Benefit
The Young Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art hosted their Winter Gala in celebration of "Great and Mighty Things": Outsider Art from the Jill and Sheldon Bonovitz Collection on March 2nd. The evening began with a pre-gala V.I.P. cocktail hour and address by Sheldon Bonovitz. At 8:00 p.m. the main gala kicked off; throughout the evening guests could view the exhibition, considered to be one of the finest private collections of outsider art in the United States. The black-tie gala featured handcrafted cocktails, a raffle, silent auction, and dancing to the talents of a DJ, a vocalist, and a violinist. Funds raised through this event will support the Young Friends’ mission of art acquisitions, conservation, and preservation of works in the collections, as well as educational and outreach programming.
