You may register for programs that take place at Mount Pleasant and Cedar Grove in person at the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Visitor Services desks. Or to register by phone, call (215) 235-SHOW (7469). A nonrefundable service charge for each space reserved is added to all phone orders (Members $2.50, Nonmembers $3.00). Through both illustrated lectures at the Museum and field trips to various sites, this course provides an in-depth look at the development of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park and the art and architecture found within. Trolley transportation for the field trips is provided; trolleys depart from and return to the Museum's West Entrance.

Hear the compelling stories of the early American women who led the households at Mount Pleasant (an architectural masterpiece built in 1762–65), Woodford, and Laurel Hill (completed by 1767).

In addition to tours of Mount Pleasant and Lemon Hill (a neoclassical villa built in 1800), this exploration of the history of beer and brewing in and around Fairmount Park includes a short walk along park trails as well as a stop in Brewerytown, adjacent to Fairmount Park. Tasting samples of Yards Brewery Company’s Ales of the Revolution will be offered to participants (ages 21 and over). Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Enjoy this look at the 250-year history of recreation above the banks of the Schuylkill River with stops at Laurel Hill, Strawberry Mansion (built in the 1790s and enlarged circa 1828), and Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse (a mansion built in 1899 and continuously operated as a children’s playhouse).

Learn about the issues that confront centuries-old homes and the recent projects that have stabilized and restored Lemon Hill, Mount Pleasant, and Strawberry Mansion.

Explore the lives of both free and enslaved people who toiled at Mount Pleasant, Cedar Grove (a farmhouse built in 1748), and Strawberry Mansion, as well as the Abolition movement to end American slavery.
