Visitors to the Museum are curious about the scaffolding around the Museum and the new construction activity along Museum Drive. Here is an update on the various projects that are visible from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Kelly Drive.
Scaffolding
Scaffolding and various construction lifts are being used to renovate the Museum's stone facades and roof, providing the gentle cleaning, repair, and repointing that will prevent water infiltration. The building's Minnesota dolomitic limestone and colorful glazed terracotta ornament is in excellent condition, and the appearance of the Museum will be further enhanced when this project is completed in 2008.
Although the east facade (toward City Hall) will have scaffolding in place through September, the East Entrance of the Museum remains open to the public.
