Gluckman Mayner Architects

As principal of Gluckman Mayner Architects, Richard Gluckman has been responsible for such distinctive museum projects as the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico (1996); the renovation and expansion of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (1998); the Mori Art Center in Tokyo, Japan (2003); the conversion of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1994); and the Museo Picasso in Malaga, Spain (2004). The Gluckman Mayner-designed Museum of Modern Art Design and Book Stores opened in the new MoMA facility in New York City in November 2004.

In addition to museum and gallery spaces, Gluckman has also designed studio spaces for such artists as Ellsworth Kelly, Chuck Close, Richard Serra, and Francesco Clemente. Collaborating with the Philadelphia Museum of Art on a variety of projects over many years, the firm worked on the design and installation of the Brancusi (1995) and Cézanne (1996) exhibitions, as well as the reinstallation of the galleries of modern and contemporary art (2000).

Gluckman's sensitivity to existing structures and skillful transformations of interior space have earned him accolades including three American Architecture Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum (in 2004, 2002, and 2001) and the 2000 Project Award from the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter.
