Response to d'Harnoncourt's unexpected death was worldwide. Filed here from friends, colleagues and acquaintances are letters of condolence and of donations to the Museum made in her memory. The Museum paid honor to d'Harnoncourt with two very different events that celebrated her life as well as with the establishment of a fund for the acquisition of works of art made in her memory. Corresponding documentation consists of the announcement card of the fund and a dvd of the one event staged at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia on September 7, 2008. Both music and remarks were presented to approximately 2,000 attendees to "Celebrating the life and legacy of Anne d'Harnoncourt." The length of the recorded program is 1 hour and 17 minutes. An earlier outdoor service opened to the public was held June 17th on the Museum's east terrace. There is no documentation here of that event.
