This subseries consists of 8x10 glass plate negatives. "Inactive" negatives and associated material had been superceded by more recent negatives at the time of their transfer from Rights and Reproductions to the Archives. Many of the negatives in this subseries are cracked or broken. The poor condition of negatives "Cat. 64," "Cat. 810a," "Cat. 1102," and "Inv. 1694," required their disposal. The first three are cataloged on the item and page level in the "Prints from Rights and Reproductions, inactive" subseries, and the last is cataloged to the item and page level in this subseries.

In November 2012, twenty-nine glass negatives and one film negative were transferred to the Archives. The corresponding envelopes and copy print to each are filed in the previous "prints" subseries. These additional negatives have been intellectually interfiled numerically. They are stored together physically in a separate box.

Access to broken or cracked negatives is restricted.
