The Philadelphia Museum of Art was originally scheduled to host a traveling exhibition of the painting of Guido Reni from March 10 to May 10, 1989 but withdrew its participation in 1988. The exhibition travelled as planned to the Pinacoteca Nazionale of Bologna and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The Kimbell Museum in Fort Worth, Texas arranged to host the exhibition during the time originally planned for the Philadelphia showing.
