Subseries E. "Violet Oakley (1874-1961)." June 30-Aug. 12, 1979

Scope and Content Note

Violet Oakley was a muralist and illustrator active in Philadelphia during the early decades of the twentieth century. This subseries includes a set of records relating to the Violet Oakley Memorial Foundation (founded in 1961 and dissolved in 1986 when all materials were transferred to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts); three years of documentation for the Violet Oakley retrospective held in 1979 and co-curated by Ann Percy and Anne d'Harnoncourt; and an object-oriented presentation binder that brought together installation images, slides, and object photography upon the close of the exhibition.

Contents are divided into three sub-subseries: the Violet Oakley Memorial foundation, exhibition records, and a presentation binder compiled at the close of the exhibition.
